Oh my! To say nothing about the wrongness of the whole premise, but why a Panda of all animals?

Because, we know in a cartoon, the most important thing is to have recognizable asian voices, right?

I'm so not looking forward to the "Emperor's New Groove"-ification of my folks.

So...is it possible to make a kung fu flick without affending all the progressive Asian Americans out there? (I wrote Asian American since I don't think native Asians that actually live in Asia don't really seem to be offended with Hollywood appropriating Asian culture, even if they butcher it.)

Unless of course, you are Pandagon, and you snip out the central image of the panda - who looks more like a Party Animal than a martial artist. (play suitable dance music here, preferably by an Austin band)

The movie itself may well suck, however.

I may hate disney with my soul, but at the very least they casted Ming Na, Pat Morita (RIP), B.D. Wong, etc. in Mulan. They also casted Jason Scott Lee and Tia Carrere in Lilo and Stitch.

Native Asians don't care because they don't have to. They have their own cultural space. Hollywood isn't that big of a part of it.
