The Carnival of Feminists: Second Call for Submissions

Don't forget, the Carnival of Feminists' deadline for issue 6 is fast approaching! This is the second call for submissions. Thanks to all who have already submitted, I'll be reviewing and emailing out within the next day or so. I've got some more ideas for what to include in this edition, so if my original call didn't appeal to you, see if you can blog about these:

  • The intersection of race and gender.
    • How does your race fit into your identity as a feminist?
    • Feminism has often been critiqued (even in this blog) as being at odds with race activism and identity. Do you agree or disagree?
    • Profile a famous woman of colour and/or feminist of colour.
  • A Feminist New Year's Eve
    • What are your feminist New Year's resolutions?
    • Make a prediction for this coming year involving women, feminism, identity and activism.
    • Give a "State of the Union" end of the year wrap-up of this past year as it relates to your identity as a feminist.
  • Movies. A number of films have come out lately that involve feminism, the female identity, and in some cases race, including:
    • North Country
    • Memoirs of a Geisha
    • King Kong
    • etc....
  • Tapas of the Feminists
    • The favourite free-for-all spanning a variety of feminism-related topics.
Remember, all submissions must be received by January 3rd! You can email them to me at or tag your post with Technorati by copying and pasting the following code into your post: Happy Blogging!!

Alright, now you're getting the writing juices flowing...!

King Kong is particularly ripe for writing about. I'll see what I can do, I hope others will, too, I'd love to read their views.

Love the "Tapas of the Feminists" terminology! (Never had them, on my things to do list for 2006.)

Unsolicited advice, I hope you don't mind (?): I would actively target non-Western blogs with a big readership (particularly feminist ones, if you can find them) via Technorati (either using their "Blog Finder" feature or blog search tool). Once you have a list, email them with brief, polite request to help publicize this call (this post).

Global Voices is also incredibly useful.

Or you can just say "Sod you , SD!" and hum Frank Sinatra's "My Way" to yourself. Try the Sid Vicious version. ;)
