Vote Santos

Alright, guys, so I'm addicted to the West Wing. And this Sunday is one of the biggest West Wing events ever. In the spirit of the West Wing world being better than the real world, the two fictional candidates to replace Bartlet, Santos (D) (Jimmy Smits) and Vinick (R) (Alan Alda) are going to be participating in a live debate this coming Sunday evening. And you know I'll be watching. Perhaps I'll even live-blog it, just for the sheer fun of it. Either way, I'm rooting for Santos. He's an idealogue, he's pro-choice, and yet has a strong religious and moral code. His big emphasis is on education, and he basically believes in a socialized public education system. Not only that, but he's pig-headed, strong-minded, wry, and able to think on his feet. So, yes, this year, I'm supporting Santos for the presidency, and while I won't be buying a bumper sticker, I will use the image from Turn-Left's cafepress store. Who do you want: Santos or Vinick? I'm sure we all agree, at least, that either candidate would be better than Bush/Cheney.

Marginally: Santos.

I'm glad Alan Alda is having a comeback - I thought he was great as the slimeball politician in "The Aviator". (Who knew he had it in him to play the bad guy so well?)

The actor who plays Santos, Jimmy Smits, has a huge likeability factor, IMHO. I've been a fan since LA Law.

I think Alan Alda is a great actor, and I love watching him on television, but, sorry to all the Vinick fans, I'm rooting for Santos. My bleeding heart liberalism won't let me go any other way.
