APIABlogs.net

My secret project has finally been launched! For months now, I've been really disappointed with the lack of politicized Asian American blogs in the blogosphere. Where are the intelligent and insightful yellow and brown bloggers? Well, inspired by FeministBlogs.org, I've developed a group blog for Asian American bloggers that syndicates content from inspired APIA bloggers. So, please take some time to check out apiablogs.net, spread the word, and if you think your blog fits the description, become a contributor!

I wondered why I was getting a lot of hits on that domain LOL but still no enquiries *pouts* but no worries :) I am glad it's up tho and it's looking awesome already. Mind if I put a link up on Disenchanted?

Very nice design! I like the clean, neat sidebar boxes you used to the right on the index page. I also really, really like that you used an elderly Asian woman holding her fist up to the camera with a smile on the masthead - it's great that you gave her a prominent position.

Just a couple of more critical comments:

- the font size on the text is way, way too small for my eyes. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Is there any way you could bump it up a notch or two? (I notice you use the same small font at reappropriate, so I'm guessing you're a big fan of the small font - I'd be interested to hear why.)

- If I want to link to a specific article at apiablogs, I can't find the permalink! All the links go back to the original blogger - I don't want to link there, I want to link to their story at apiablog.

If the reader likes the story, they can easily click from apiablog to the author's blog (e.g., Kim's Trip to the Baltimore Aquarium - where is the permalink for this at apiablog?).

Other than that, nice job! :)

tekanji, thanks!!

sour duck, thank you for the comments, i'm attempting to rectify the problems. i've fixed the font size and am trying to figure out what tag to use in wordpress to create a permalink to the tag... interestingly, i think the feedwordpress software rewrites the permalink tag to use the original blog's permalink rather than one on wordpress... i checked feministblogs, and that group blog doesn't include a permalink on feminisblogs either...

but i'll keep searching around and if i can't find it, i'll email radgeek to see if she has any ideas.

as for the banner image, that's yuri kochiyama. she's like my hero. ^_^

Jenn- Thanks, I hope you can get permalinks up...

Also, I had to hunt around to find the RSS feed for the site; I eventually found it at the bottom of the page. I would put it more prominently toward the top, maybe on the sidebar to the right, with an eye-catching button.

Just my two cents' worth. ;) It looks good. :)
