It's Coulter Time

The conservatives are all in a tizzy over Ann Coulter on the latest issue of Time magazine. No, folks, the photo isn't skewed -- she really is that ugly in real life.

I think they airbrushed her feet.

Ma fave bit: "'Why can't they just photograph conservatives straight?' asks Coulter."

As if ANY women ANYWHERE are just "photographed straight", and as if no one but conservatives ever have unflattering shots specifically chosen for print.

Couldn't agree more! Conservative pundits do tend to have selective memory though -- they don't care unless it's one of their own getting 'slighted'. Personally, I think Time did a pretty good job representing Ann Coulter realistically, the photo *is* from an odd angle, but it's not unflattering given the subject matter.

I definitely don't agree with... well... anything she ever says... but i have to hand it to her, she gets people talking. and for an age group such as mine that is plagued by a severe lack of political involvement and an equally intense amount of political apathy -- anyone that makes people discuss politics is AOK in my book. i think for the democratic party she falls into the "there's no such thing as bad publicity" category.

anon, I disagree.

Ann Coulter is a political cancer - she keeps writing, without facts, without sense, without basic human decency, and those on her side of the aisle believe every word, regardless of the perspectives of those she demonizes, namely all those who aren't wealthy white Anglo-Saxon Protestant men.

The solution to political apathy isn't acidic commentary, it's active co-operation. Bad publicity does exist: the Democratic Party loses when their methods of combating people like Ann Coulter involve only stunned silence.

I agree with James -- she and Michelle Malkin have a complete disregard for facts in favour of propagandizing the party line. While pundits like Coulter and Malkin *are* heard, there's no one to counter their claims with real fact and subsequently people rarely question what they're hearing out of Malkin and Coulter's mouths.

i don't disagree that she sucks. and you both are right in saying that nothing changes if people just continue to listen to her and not do anything to dispute her "facts". that being said, she's not going to stop. she and those like her are never going to stop. furthermore, i don't think she's recruiting people either. the crazy conservative seeds have to be planted already for someone to say, "hey, you know what, that ann coulter is SO right!" (no pun intended). there's not this core group of moderate people hanging around waiting for the right ann coulter speech to make up their minds for them. i know this is going to spark even more debate, but... we have to give the american people a little bit of credit. as much as the government wants to deny it... people are not dumb. the only thing we can do to truly combat ann coulter is vote. and to get everyone we know to vote. and to get everyone they know to vote. and so on. and its not like jon stewart or al franken or many of the other "lefty" political commentators are always giving us the whole story, either. they say what they know the people who ALREADY agree with them will like. which is exactly what ann coulter does. she's applealing to the audience she already HAS... not the audience she wants.

Yep, I agree with everything Anonymous says.Someone like Micheal Moore doesn't put out too many facts and is pretty much preaching to the choir just like Coulter and Malkin.Goddamn pundits :)
